Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?

I talked with motorola customer service and the guy said we can preorder on oct 29 only through google play. Ordering from motorola web site will start from november. I dont if i want to wait till november. I guess I will just pay shipping fee.

I agree. Either tax or shipping will get you. And at the price I am paying, another 20 bucks to ship it overnight is not going to hurt my feeling. Just eat at home a few more nights instead of eating out.... I thought about going through Motorola, but since I have the money, I will go through Play because they are easy to work with if in the event I need service or something goes wrong with the device.

If you buy electronics from Best Buy, your wireless provider, or pretty much any other retailer, and something goes wrong with the device after the initial 'return' period but while the device is under warranty, you can virtually rest assured that should you have an issue you will be directed to contact Motorola for warranty service (unless you purchase some sort of additional insurance/replacement warranty). I don't know how Motorola handles those issues, or how they will handle warranty issues for devices purchase directly from them, but in my experience with issues with devices purchased directly from Google, it's completely painless - you call Google (with whom I've always been able to reach a live person in under 2 minutes), they troubleshoot the issue over the phone then and there and, if they determine the issue to be covered under the warranty, they ship you a replacement device either 1-day or 2-day (probably depends on the rep) and provide a shipping return label for the defective device all at no cost.

That, to me, is worth paying the shipping at initial purchase, and makes it worth buying the device directly from the Play Store provided one can manage the upfront cost. The only thing that might convince me to purchase it elsewhere would be if my carrier-of-choice offered a substantial subsidy against the cost that drove the total effective cost down substantially (but, being a T-Mobile customer, that won't be the case).

I'm severely tempted but I'll try to wait and see what happens in the next 6 months. Wouldn't mind getting a phone with a snapdragon 810.

Can someone confirm the price? I just saw a tweet from a tech site that said it would be $750 and $800 for the two storage versions????

i am buying one for sure but at contract price. i didnt know that mabny people buy off contract but they seem to do so by all the price complaints. the price if completely in line with competitors. i have no prob witht he price. yeah it sucks its high but a 800 iphone 6 plus or 750 note 4...... this phone is better and cheaper so its a win win.

It depends on the plan you can get.... I went from an unlimited everything plan on Sprint that with my corporate discount was costing me roughly $76 per month.... I paid cash money for my Nexus 5 and moved to a T-Mobile $30 a month plan.. Granted it's only 100 minutes of talk but I only average 60 - 80 minutes per month on my last 12 bills on Sprint and then I get unlimited Text and Data (5 gig at 4G LTE) so I save almost $50 a month.. Over a year that is almost $600 a year... Almost enough right there to pay for the Nexus 6 outright.... Then you figure I can probably get at least $250 for my 32 gig Nexus 5 used and it's a heck a deal...

Now T-Mobile doesn't work great for everyone... It's pretty dang great in Dallas Fort Worth but does have it's draw backs when you get outside the metro area.... limited data connection when not in a major city but for all the places I live, work and play it works great.... but you can't get that $30 plan (They don't even advertise it or show it as an option on their website) with a contract phone.... so you have to pay for the device outright to get it...

I'd like to, it's a great phone. But it's to expensive and I already have a brand new HTC One M8... :-X

Re: Now that it's announced, will you be buying?

For me its going to be between Sprint or T-mobile. I definitely want the 64gb option but I'm not sure Sprint will have that version. I know T-mobile will. So I guess I'll just purchase from the playstore and choose from there.

I will, but I'm a little scared to find out what part of the phone will be its Achilles heel. There's always something with The Nexus line.

This does not appear to have any drawbacks. For the N4 and 5 it was because of the price that they had to cut corners. Now it looks like they want to directly compete with other OEMs' flagships :D

There's always something with every phone that people will pick out as a weakness. It's too big... It's too small... It has AMOLED screen... It has IPS screen... It doesn't have a pen... It has a pen and I'd lose it...

Phones are like a husband/wife: don't expect to find Mr/Mrs. Perfect -- just be happy to find one that makes you happy. But unlike a spouse, when you trade it in after 2 years you don't have to pay alimony ;-)

This is my smartphone. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My smartphone is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
My smartphone, without me, is useless. Without my smartphone, I am useless. I must present my smartphone true. I must present better than my enemy who is trying to one-up me. I must one-up him before he one-ups me. I will...

And some complain just to complain! LOL
