Are you going to use Allo and Duo?

I just downloaded Duo. Now I have to think of someone I can bully into downloading it so's I can try it out.

Why does that seem to imply that a certain amount of intestinal fortitude is required that I am not entirely sure I posses?

I can almost see a sign that says: 'Epic level characters only allowed beyond this point' :p

After doing too many test calls over the weeks, finally got to do my first "real" call with my wife. Still love the app but long term I won't use it much. I like Allo much more.

No...Google's messaging platform has been confusing all the way back to Google+. I have no time to invest in their meandering messaging strategies. They blew this long ago, for a function that is one of the simpler endeavors with phones they've managed to make it a total mess.

Bingo!

I posted tweeted a reply to David Ruddock expressing much the same sentiment. Google keeps coming up with these experiments, you invest time in them, then they drop them. I persuaded my wife to try Hangouts for regularly chatting with her friends and relatives far away. Now Google's doing... what?

I'm becoming his a mite >< bit fed up with Google's incessantly pulling the rug out from under me. They killed G+, pulling that kind of nonsense. Are they trying to kill their messaging in a similar manner?

I am so exasperated with Google's messaging strategy that I am seriously thinking about an iPhone, just for iMessage. Now that Hangouts has unmerged hangout and SMS and shows multiple threads for the same user, I see no point in putting up with its clunky interface.

From having just hang outs for SMS, IM, and video chat (across devices!) we now have hangouts and messenger for SMS, this will become duo, allo and maybe messenger if allo doesn't have SMS. Seems backwards to me. I much prefer one communication app with SMS and IM threads integrated.

I won't use it. My wife and I use hangouts. My family all uses Facebook or occasional SMS when my mom opens the wrong app. A mobile only app is DOA for me since half the time I talk to my wife via hangouts is at work on my laptop.

My wife and I would switch to Facebook as well full time except id have to keep a browser open to message with her which is a little annoying.

seriously, hangouts is all I really need. I would rather them polishing it than having this new strategy. I love that I can hangout from my phones, my tablets, and my computer using the same account!

Of course, if they allow some integration between allo/duo and hangouts, I might give it a try. Might is the appropriate word mind you.

According to someone on G+, Duo is getting the ability to make voice calls as well.

Until now, Duo is available and only have 3 contacts. I would love to use it but if my friends and family not using it, then I would rarely use it. :)
