Are you on a current or a legacy plan?

After 6 years of being on the gUDP plan, I finally decided to move to the current "new" unlimited plan.

What about you? Are you on a current or on a legacy plan?

Legacy UDP..........not sure I am keeping it. Have about 3 hours to decide. Why did you switch today vs tomorrow plan?

Just curious your reasons.

My concern is that, even though gUDP isn't network optimized at the moment, that it's only a matter of time. My feeling is that Verizon will do further to get rid of people off of gUDP. They have already booted people without recourse off of gUDP for multiple reasons. So...if it doesn't get network optimized, then i feel that they will do something.

Secondly, it's also a cost thing...I plan to have 8-10 lines pushing the price of the new unlimited down.

Finally, if they do a force migration of gUDP, then you will be forced onto a current plan (meaning, they give you the boot, or say you can choose a current plan). And, the current plan, 10 lines is $300. for the new beyond UDP plan, 10 lines is $500.

I feel that, moving to the new unlimited, that I would be good for at least two years, before Verizon does something to people on this plan.

I should also add that for my needs, I really only need 1 tablet line of maybe 60-80gb(was using unlimited hotspot before). Other lines should be <22gb. So, with that tablet line, I can do 2-3 lines, and just swap sims once i hit 22gb on that line, plus 15gb hotspot from my phone line. That, combined with the video throttling, should be sufficient for me.

Thanks dpham00! It's a hard decision for me. I've had my line for a long time and just fear giving it up. I know I should. I don't even use that much data monthly. I average about 30gb monthly. But never use wifi and I have it available.

Legacy although not finding a reason to keep it other than having an employee discount...

Had grandfathered unlimited until a month or so ago I switched to new play. Now this new new stuff. Kind of . I've been giving Verizon ~$250+- for 7 years now and this might just be enough to dumb me. That lunatic at Tmo looking better and better lol

T-Mobile does video throttling as well unfortunately...

Well tried to call to switch and guess I missed the cut off time. Online only allowing the new plan.

Guess I'm looking for a new carrier after this. Looks like t-mobile maybe.

legacy gUdp for now but have limited talk time and no text. Thinking about either a new current Udp or one of the fixed plans since I don't really need uDp unless I am traveling which is once a year and that's only if it's within the U.S. I'm thinking about jumping ship to T-Mobile since they have the unlimited international data as well but not good if their network is any better now compared to 14 years ago but I do know Google Project Fi seems to work well but that's T-Mobile and Sprint.

Crap, I guess I lost out on something (was trying to ride out my $40 device access) since now all their new BS unlimited plans make you get data on basic phones.

There used to be an option on the My Verizon app to select a single unlimited device and the rest basic. Now on the website site and My Verizon app your only choices are the 2 new unlimited with all devices requiring data. So $40-70 increases across the board)

(Plan is gUDP and 2 basic phones)

gUDP with no plan to change. I don't save anything. I use GV for talk and text. If Verizon bumps me off I'll cancel service. VZW reception in my area isn't very good anyway. UDP is the only reason I keep the account.

I'm on the plan Verizon introduced with unlimited in the Spring. Left the inferior T-Mobile network for it. The T-Mobile coverage map is false advertising at best, I left Verizon for them last year and regretted it, but I wanted the unlimited data T-Mobile offered. Random dead spots in town, no service in basements, lack of service in large buildings and stores, absolutely no coverage outside of town unless I was near a freeway. At least it worked well where I lived and worked. T-Mobile also had my video limited to 480p.

So when Verizon decided to offer unlimited data this spring, and it was cheaper than my old data plan with them, I jumped on it. May be a little more than T-Mobile, but the peace of mind I've got service EVERYWHERE I go, and not being annoyed by dropped calls, is worth the extra money. Besides 7 lines for $240 plus tax isn't bad IMO.

I just switched to the unlimited plan yesterday before this new more expensive crap started. I figured it would be best to just go ahead and lock in to that lower price. My wife is happy that she doesn't have to worry about her data usage anymore.

Yupe new plans totally hose people with basic phones on the plan.

$155+fees a month for the gounlimited plan for 1 smartphone and 2 basic phones. $195 a month for beyondlimited with 1 smart and 2 basic.

Versus what would've been 125+fees before yesterday. I guess I am going to ride gUDP into the sunset whenever that is.

Sooooo...... Just left a corporate store and they will still allow someone on UDP grandfathered plan to switch to yesterday's 22gb plan. I had them put it into notes for me. I plan to decide before the days out.

Key was raising enough hell to make them listen.

Hope this helps anyone.

It's certainly possible to get on old plans... Even this year people where able to switch to the nationwide plan which is 5 years old.

But... It's difficult to find the right rep.

And, speaking out of experience, get what they promise in writing. Verbal promises to do something or notate something have not been sufficient to get subsequent reps to honor what was promised to me.

T-Mobile does limit video streaming to 480p with the base One plan. However, my older simple choice plan and a co-workers newer One plus plan are able stream YouTube @1440p 60FPS.

I'm testing out t-mobile prepaid plan for a month. Gotta find out more about it but I can verify I'm able to stream at 1080p.
