Do you plan to upgrade?

To be honest, I don't see much value in the 9 to warrant an update from 8. The specs are very similar and Honor 8 is still a beast.

What are your thoughts?

Kirin 950 and 960 performance gap aren't huge so I don't think it's worth it. Unless snapdragon chipsets, huawei had many phones with kirin 960 last year so I am expecting newer chipset.

At this point phones are pretty much incremental improvements for the most part. Would I upgrade? Quite possible because I much prefer a front fps which is easier to access when on a desk. While the honor 8 camera is pretty good, I would also love to see the camera improvements.

Will it work on the number one carrier in the US?

That would be a bummer.

In the past, phones with Verizon capability announced it up front like the nextbit and essential. Next bit later said no Verizon support though .

Just got an Honor 8 a little over a month ago so I'll stick with this for awhile. I like the finger print scanner on the back and it seems to be a small spec bump. Now, maybe if they have a good Black Friday deal like they did last year....

Well the honor 8 64gb was $224 last black Friday. Since the base of the honor 9 is 64, can we hope for a 128 for $224?

In Nextbit's case, I don't think they planned for it until potential buyers/backers asked.

Doesn't seem like too big of a change to me. Although there are consumers that want the latest and greatest

It's definitely an incremental improvement. That's really all that we are seeing lately.

Just curious, what exactly were you expecting?

Nope. The fact that it is actually taller than the Honor 8 makes me not a fan.

I would say upgrade from honor 8 to honor 9 is like upgrading iphone 6s to 7. Not a huge upgrade IMO.

Unfortunately this is true of most flagships from last year to this year. I haven't seen a huge upgrade from any manufacturer offer the previous year.
