are you still really happy with your s5?

Had mine also like most here, since launch day. Actually it's my second, had to exchange one. I really like it and I'm very happy with my camera, which was main reason I bought it and not the m8, I'm so glad I did. Was a bit upset about not being able to talk and internet on lte or 3g like I could my old Evo lte, and was shocked I'd actually lose features, but I use my camera most, so I have to get by.

I've had my S5 for 2 weeks now, it's my return to android after about 4 years of highly jailbroken iphones. I made the switch as soon as work decided to allow phones but no jailbroken or rooted devices. (High security)

WOW did Samsung and Google really step it up while i was gone!! I wasn't blown away with the S5 interface out of the box, and its taken some time to get it right, Nova Launcher Prime and Evolve SMS saved the day... All the options are out there to make it my own and I'm having fun finding them. I feel that Ergo and Design could use some help but its possible that its just going to take some time to adapt from the iphone.

PROS:
Battery life is better than my Iphone 5
Screen size and resolution are great
Water Resistant!!
Camera is better than my stand alone Olympus
Expandable memory and super fast clock speeds.
Play Store is intuitive and the selection is wider than Apple app store and Cydia combined.

CONS:
Charger Door is a PITA but worth the water resistance (still waiting for samsung to release the wireless charging back)
I hate the volume warning when I'm using headphones (the "smart volume" fixed onboard music, but not pandora)
Had to disable Google Search in order to access S-voice with in-line headphone button from locked phone, now I have no talk to type from the keyboard... Still looking for a fix.. Anyone?
Ergo and Design:
Worried about my camera lens becoming damaged from protruding out, can't get a case cuz I'm waiting on the charge back
Protruding camera also makes the phone unstable when I'm using it on my desk
Lock button is right across from volume button, makes it hard to hit one and not the other, should be on the top
Headphone jack really should be on the bottom, headphone wire goes under my shirt so I need the slack when using the phone, not to mention that everyone put the phone in there pocket upside down.

All in All still the best smartphone I've ever had.. and the list is long

Get Tasker in playstore, I programmed to stop the volume warming pop up and stopped it from lowering sound when I connect auxiliary cable.

Somewhat I just move on too quickly. I upgraded to Sony XPERIA Z2 which I love even more. I still have my S5.

Pro Z2

Didn't you have a "toilet" incident with your S5? I think that is the best feature of the S5 ;) Every phone should have it.

I watch a lot of shows and movies on my S5. The Super AMOLED HD screen is so crisp. I still can't get over how great of a display this phone has. The battery life is also quite amazing. Yep...I am still very happy with my S5.

I have both. I agree before I dismissed it but after what happened it's one less thing to worry about.

Think of all the stories about phones being left on the table and spilling their drinks all over it.

It's been pretty rainy in the NY NJ area, and walking down the street in the rain with the phone out feels cooler than you'd think (as dorky as it actually is). The screen responds really well when wet. I know the early Xperia screens freak out when they get wet.

Galaxy S5: NO NO NO.....I have had it for 6days and I do not like it. While talking on the phone you can not receive notification sounds/vibrations of text or email. Also when you dial a number and you need press prompts it take a minute to get back to the dial pad. This phone can turn on the TV, but it does not have basic features that their competitors do...it will be returned!

There's a setting to turn notification on during calls.

i also wait so long for the S5 and when i get him for 800 euro!! in 2 weeks i could return my phone because some problems with rain falling on it and my phone get crazy and blocked.. soo now no phone till me new phone will come from the service..

im not 100% happy with the phone ( on this moment i have no phone) but oke i think i need to try more and try to make it more mine... we will wait and see..

Very pleased, and ever since I figured how to do panning shot... Extra pleased

Update: I took a huge loss selling my S5 back to T-Mobile. I traded for a HTC One M8 and it is night and day difference! It is so good it makes me wonder what I have been missing all this time by sticking to the Sammy S line! (nexus 5 excluded) I could not be happier! Side by side the m8 smokes the s5! I am forced to hang my Sammy fan boy hat up. Although I still use many Sammy products, mobile phones and tablets will no longer be one of them.

I wish the best of luck to all those with the black screen of death and camera of death!

got mine on 4/11 just like most folks.....

Went through a couple of weeks of frustration trying to find things in the Settings Menu "in the same place they were" in the Galaxy S Fascinate.

the last 2 weeks I have just simply enjoyed having the phone and using it w/o any issues at all.

this quote posted up above somewhere says it very well:

There will always be the next big thing in some shape or form and I don't beat myself up about not having waited for something else... just my thoughts

To finish up, this is the best phone I have ever owned, and I am very satisfied with it.

Will there be a better one? Yes.
Will I need that one? No
Would I want the better phone? Maybe
Could I justify the better phone? Probably not

Would I buy it? If the bank auditor couldn't see the expense, probably ;)

Most disappointment stems from how awesome Samsung is at marketing. I've had a couple issues or gripes and concerns. It's better than the S3,better than the iPhone in my opinion. Samsung made this seem life changing, like some magical device. Yeah its awesome, probably about the best phone out there but the marketing of Samsung vs what they deliver doesn't match up 100 percent. But what does?

It sounds like you don't have the black screen of death or camera of death. Those issues are life changing...

EDIT: "but what does?" The HTC M8 has so far. Far more than the S5.

Is the lack of these "death" issues the main draw of the M8 for you?

After seeing the leaked pics of the Prime, I'm loving my S5 even more!

The lack of death issues is a huge bonus. It made me switch and am the happier for it. The HTC really does have a lot going for it. I was blindly a Samsung fan boy for too long.

You mean the phone with an oversized slippery case, on-screen buttons that make the usable screen size much smaller than 5", a 4MP camera that has been widely panned, and which is not water resistant or have any option for inductive charging or USB3 support? Oh yeah almost forgot about the lack of a fingerprint scanner.

Yeah, sounds perfect to me.

Sarcasm aside, the M8 is a good phone, but to claim it lives up to its marketing better than the S5 is ridiculous. They each have their pros and cons. Which one is better is a subjective thing depending on individual preferences.

Yeah, those things never happen on the M8:

There's more of course, that's just a similar example, and I'm sure there would be even more still if the M8 sold anywhere close to the same numbers as the S5 has.

No phone is immune to defects.

Like someone above mentioned...Lock button is right across from volume button. That's a problem for me too.
And this one is about to drive me bananas! I'm getting notification "chimes" constantly (1-2 every 4 to 5 minutes).
NO idea what they're are. Nothing in the notification area. There are a zillion settings and I have no idea
what or where it is. If I mute the phone, I miss notifications I WANT to hear. Really upset about this but other
than those two things, I'm happy with my S5.
