Article about Note 8 battery problems

OP, business insider article is FAR from "official". No one knows how wide spread this issue is yet and it could be very very minor number of phones impacted. Mine is not and neither is my brother's phone. Both drained to 0% and started back up with no issues what so ever.

I agree, lepa79, until I see a link posted from Samsung official web site acknowledging this problem, I'm assuming these posts are coming from idle iPhone store employees. It would be most helpful if posters with this issue would identify where they live and their service provider.

If you turn off the "Fast cable charging" and the "Fast wireless charging" you should be fine. I don't use them since I charge my phone overnight. I understand you are disabling a nice feature (I suppose you can turn it on when you need it, and turn it off when done). The issue is likely with a "rush of charge" coming into a fully depleted battery. A friend of mine had to use the slow charging USB via computer method to revive his phone, and now that he disabled the two settings I mentioned, it didn't happen again once he went down to zero and charged it with the regular cable. Hope this helps.

Sounds like you only would need slow charge if the phone is down to 0, not all the time.
Having it enabled should mean the phone is less likely to run its battery down in the first place.

The only problem would be if your phone is run down to 0, you can't then go into your settings and then switch ON slow charge. However, you could use another charger only capable of slow charging.

That's what I was thinking of. Any USB port would do.

This is why no matter what phone I may currently use...I avoid fast/rapid charging at all costs. I can appreciate the ability to rapid charge for those who need it. But if you don't need it then just use a slow charger. This fast charging to me is just another gimmick that the phone manufacturers just love. Not only must we buy a new phone when the battery dies because it is sealed in side, but now we can degrade it even faster with rapid charging! They will do anything to force us to buy a new phone. Any medium specked phone sold in the last two years should have the power to run for many, many years issue free. But they do not make any money that way. Nature of the beast.

was / is hyper-threading a good idea or bad? more heat, "virtual" cores vs real core for 20% gain.
But its been with for 10 years now.

Quick charging for cars though is a good thing, dare say a must.
