Ask me about the new Nexus 7!

Hi Andrew, thanks for answering questions for us.

My question is how is the screen colour saturation, viewing angles and brightness?

I know the resolution will be good, not doubting that, but the original Nexus 7 had a pretty washed out screen, so is this new one an improvement? Are colours more saturated? Brighter?

Does it have a microsim slot? Can I make phonecalls?

I only have a Wifi version. The LTE model will likely have a Micro SIM slot (most do nowadays), but it will be data-only.

Can you guys recommend a good qi changer to use?

The screen seems great so far. The resolution is good, there's no gap and viewing angles seem good as well. Side-by-side it clearly looks better than the original Nexus 7's screen. As I said earlier, I still need to take a look at it outdoors and in more situations before i can say for sure how it is overall.

There was no mention of Miracast, actually. All we know is that it has slimport HDMI out through USB.

Is it LTE supports 1800 / 2600 / 2800 ? Thanks alot .

There will be one SKU for the US and one SKU for Europe. Both have 6 or 7 bands for those regions, which should cover any band that a particular carrier is using.

Did you notice the narrower bezels being a problem when viewed in portrait mode?

I'm on the fence about this. One thing I liked about the original N7 is the wide bezels, which made holding it with your thumb on the bezel easier. With the smaller bezels (and overall narrower/thinner profile) the implication is that you're supposed to wrap your hand around the back and hold it like a huge phone. It seems to work fine, and you can certainly hold it this way much better than the original Nexus 7. It's going to be tough to hold in that way for someone with small hands, though.

Luckily the bezels have stayed on the top and bottom for landscape use.

Can you post some pictures taken with the rear camera if possible? I really want to see if it looks any better than the 3 mp on my current tab.

A slide in the presentation said something about improvements to the keyboard. Anything to report on that front?

Most likely some much needed corrections to the autocorrect system or something like that. I doubt anything visually different.

Andrew, I know you mentioned just a case for accessories, but any mention of a wireless charger specifically for the N7? Maybe one that would be like the dock for the original N7?

Hi,
I have the original and I sideloaded 4.3. Maybe I'm wrong... But I see that the image quality of my N7 is improved.
Did you compare the 2 screen quality with both on 4.3.
By the way 4.3 improve the speed. I also had performance issues, they're all gone...
Thanks for being our test drive dummy, lucky guy. As canadian I'll have to wait a long while to put my hands on...

I'm going to walk around and take some tomorrow, and a whole lot more for my full review. But I can say right now you won't be blow away by this thing. It should be better than your 3MP camera, as at least with 5MP you're hitting a resolution that's capable of not having grain in it.

Can't say I notice any differences.

Nope no mention about a N7-specific dock at this time. Hoping they roll one out sooner than the original N7, though.

I agree Andrew. I was WAY too long. I almost bought one for my current N7 a couple weeks ago, but wanted to see if the new one was worth upgrading to. I think it is, so gotta offload my TF101 first to have some cash for that, but excited to hold one on Tuesday. Thanks for answering these posts!

Does it have the sleep/wake function like the original? That's activated by a magnet.

Not sure if this has been asked before, but how good do the speakers sound? Do they produce rich, and vibrant sound, or a more flat an tinny sound that tends to be present on a lot of mobile devices?
