Internal Voltage regulation will only accept whats safe for the device, your not talking about very much difference here so your fine. I do find it interesting though that its a smaller charger. I made a thread about this and it got a lot of views but no real answers.
Does you notification light blink or does it just stay on when you get a notification?

Just wondering since I have one
I have the Nexus 7 2013.....when the new one comes out with 4G will I be able to update this one to have 4G.....I just bought this one would have waited for the 4 G if I had known it was coming so soon.
