Assurion repalcement phones.

Don't lie about anything on your phone. Even color. Its considered fraud and they have the right to charge you full retail price if you commit fraudulent claim. You have to send them your faulty device and they will know if a claim is false.
You get what you had unless they are out of stock or if the phone has been retired and they can't get. In that situation you get the upgrade version to the model you had. They are very fair. Just don't try to pull a fast one. There are people who think they can. Just saying. I am not accusing!:p

Yeah I know. I was just making a joke lol. Oh how I want one of those brown ones though! I thought about just asking them and maybe they would say yes.. Oh well next time.
Anyways, I got my phone today. It's in perfect shape. Though I've had one he'll of a time getting all my apps restored and using the stupid backup assistant.
Backup assistant blows by the way just in case anyone cares to knkw. It's totally useless for anything but backing up contacts. That's it. No pictures or other media. I just ended up using Android file transfer on the Mac and that worked okay. I wasn't able to get all my stuff but most of it anyways.
Long story short, got my new phone, it works. Done.

I'll agree that Backup Assistant Plus isn't optimal, but if you bothered to check its settings you would have seen this:uploadfromtaptalk1365001959125.jpg(Not all of those items are checked by default, more's the pity).
I did suggest Carbon and MyBackup, which work quite well and are free, but I guess you didn't take the time to look at them.

How do you know what I did or didn't try?
I guess some people just enjoy being jerks..

My advice for future endeavors? Just stay away from Backup Assistant all together. Unless you're going from one platform to another (i.e. Android to iPhone), it really isn't worth it. Google syncs your contacts for you, and there are other great apps that simply do a better job of backing up your stuff (I haven't tried Carbon yet, but hear it's good). Besides all that though, BA is known to sometimes be a resource hog and cause unnecessary battery drain. Media and other stuff can often be transferred via SD card as well.

Yeah I was half tempted to tell them mine was a brown GS3 so I could get one of those instead... I thought maybe I could just ask and maybe they would do it, but I didn't think of that til afterward..
Anyways, yeah I know that Nova launcher has a backup feature and I have backed up my layout but I haven't had to switch phones since getting it so I don't know if it works or not. I didn't know that all my old apps will reinstall themselves. When I switched from my incredible 2 to the Galaxy S3 I had to reinstall all my apps all over again and re-setup everything to my preferences again.. It take so freaking long.. Not looking forward to that. Though I am getting a nice shiny new phone with no dings or scratches so I'm happy about that.
Thanks for all the responses guys! I've had a few less than favorable dealings with insurance companies so I wasn't sure what to expect.

They can tell by the model number that tips isn't brown.

Yeah I'm sure that they can. Next time I will just ask them if I can have brown instead of blue.

Does anyone know if Assurion checks the flash counter on insured phones? Or if they to see if puce unlocked the bootloader?
I've been using the my old S3 with e broken screen as a guinea pig for rooting using my mac before I send it in . Lol. I haven't been successful yet because there isn't really any methods that work for 4.1.2 but I was just curious...

I've always had a mix between refurbished and new phones. One way you can tell is by the label they use that's behind the battery. Their refurbished phones have a generic sort of label, while you can differentiate this from the new phones that have the manufacturer's label on it
Like most people have said, don't worry about getting a refurbished one. They usually sends out ones that don't have any flaws on them.

The line I got from Asurion is that it's a new phone. Verizon's warranty replacements, however, are refurbished...always...even if you yell at every manager they throw your way.

Yeah mine was Definetely a refurb, but it looks brand new. It's works great though and now is rooted and running smoooooth.
