I received a letter from Asurion (AT&T) saying that they were raising their prices a dollar a month to $7.99 and the deductible for the replacement of a phone will now be $299 instead of $199. That's $490 over 24 months if you need a replacement. That's a hefty increase. 50% on the deductible + 14% additional on the monthly amount. It may be cheaper to get two , if they offer that buy one get one free deal again, screw the insurance and pay the extra $15 a month and if one is lost a broken you always have the other one. Plus you can use it for a second number.

Insurance costs are directly related to the cost of the device. Technological advances and advanced data capabilities increase the cost of devices and the possibility of technological failure. Your deductible was created to provide you with the right coverage at the right price for the device you use. You can find more information regarding your exact deductible amount on Welcome to Phoneclaim.com.

OK but for a $700 phone I'll be paying 7.99x30=239.70 + 299.00 if I lose it or it breaks. I think those would be the amounts for a LG V10. So, that's approx $540 to get a refurbished phone. I guess there comes a point when insurance doesn't pay as the refurbished phone price gets close to the deductible. So, at the early stages, insurance is more important. Is the deductible for a $699.99 phone the same as a it is for a 128GB Note 5 or iPhone 6S Plus, which are probably over $900

How much is the deductible for a Galaxy S5? I heard $149.

Samsung fixed my Galaxy Note 2, it's like new now, so I returned my LG V10 and I have no insurance issue anymore. But yes if you buy a $900 phone and lose it day 2, that's quite a hardship.

Yeah I've never been a fan of insurance. Usually the cost isn't worth it.

I wouldn't go that far. You walk out of a store with an $800 phone and lose it, better to pay $300 for another one than have nothing. I think the deductible has to be substantial to prevent abuse.

Maybe the key is the phones are overpriced and maybe we don't, need an $800 phone, which ends up costing over $1,000. I'm very happy with my fixed Note 2 that's a smooth as new and the only thing, for all practical purposes, that's different is the camera. The camera on the lg v10 that I bought was incredible. But how incredible do you think it was compared to a real camera or even a camera that you could buy for two hundred bucks? I know there is a convenience to having a better camera in your phone but it's still not good camera quality no matter what anyone says, even the v10 or the 6p Plus or the note 5. The lenses are crap compared to glass lenses from a real camera.

Plus, for my note 2, I have four batteries and two wall chargers, no insurance, no payments and it works great. I think dollar for dollar, the Note 2 might have been one of the best phones ever made, especially with its exchangeable batteries and micro SD card slot.

I was just listening to Dan Brown's "Inferno" on the phone and it is clear as a bell. I don't really know what else are must haves for me. Yes it is true 4 gigabytes is better than 2 gigabytes but if you manage the phone properly, and in this case everything is working as crisp as new, if I was really missing something I'd realize it all the time.

That's why I wanted to go with Nexus Protect on my 6P. $80 one time fee with a $80 deductible if I need to use it. So worst case (or best, heh) is that I never have to use it and I'm only out $80.

Plus, Google refunded me $50 since I bought it shortly before the discount, so you can say I only paid $30.
