Asus Fonepad - Compass Calibration Help

Hi,

When I open Google Maps app on my Asus Fonepad, I get an error message telling me to calibrate my compass. The message asks me to wave the device in a figure 8 motion. I've done this many times on many occasions and cannot calibrate the compass.

I found a You Tube video that shows someone calibrating their smart phone and copied what they did with negative results.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem? I'd love to get rid of this message.

can you bring up a compass app and check settings. how about in maps those settings. ok maps uses sensors to give the most accurate position on a map. mine even has a barometer that it uses to better detect altitude. so with that said google is telling you something is wrong, maybe not working.
