ASUS Transformer Battery Drain Problem - the FACTS and SOLUTION

Re: ASUS Transformer Battery Drain Problem - the FACTS and SOLUTI

my dock went to Grapeine for repairs, came back in perfect condition and repaired
principalskinner, thanks for the report on Grapevine. My dock arrived in Grapevine yesterday. I'm concerned after seeing the photos of a damaged dock.

Re: ASUS Transformer Battery Drain Problem - the FACTS and SOLUTI

Glad to hear good news about Grapevine. Still waiting for my dock (and tablet) to get back. I mailed them both snail-mail (regular post) to Grapevine on 8-13. Grapevine received them on 8-15. They finished work on 8-19 and sent back via FedEx the same day. Tracking shows it is supposed to arrive on 8-26.

Real surprised that it took the US Post Office 2 days (and one of those a Sunday!) to ship it there and it will take FedEx a full week to get it back... Guess that's what I get for living in the sticks in Orygun!

Re: ASUS Transformer Battery Drain Problem - the FACTS and SOLUTI

I just got off the phone with ASUS and plan on sending out my dock on Monday as I do have the battery drain issue. Does anyone have any advice for the procedure like how you packed yours up for shipment and how you filled out that stupid RMA checklist? Thanks!!!

Just got back my dock from Grapevine. It's in such pristine condition that I thought they had given me a new one! Thank you Grapevine!

Fyi, For shipping, I wrapped the dock in bubble wrap, taped it closed and placed it in a box with newspaper to keep it from sliding around. They shipped it back in form-fitting foam, very secure.

I wrapped mine in an antistatic bag and wrapped that in bubble wrap. I put that and the rma form in a box full of shipping foam peanuts.

On the rma form I just filled in my address, phone number, and the rma number.

Sent from my Transformer TF101

I've got RMA number , however , the help person did not mention where to send the package. Does somebody know an address ? Thanks in advance.

No one seemed to respond to the question about the keys not waking the TF but the touchpad waking it. That's what mine does. Is that good or bad?

I don't think that's good. From what I understand, the only thing that should wake it is the power button

I thought I read in this forum somewhere, that it will wake the TF if touched within a minute or two of it being off. Try waiting a little longer and see what happens.

Yep, that's how mine behaves, the keyboard seems to stay awake just a little bit longer than the touchpad but if you give it a few more seconds it eventually goes to sleep and neither will wake it up. No abnormal drain here.

That was covered back in Post #15. That is normal behavior.

Re: ASUS Transformer Battery Drain Problem - the FACTS and SOLUTI

Has anyone had this spontanously start happening? Because mine never work up from keystrokes, however, as of today, it is. I have noticed battery drain suddenly as well. Yesterday Both my transformer and the dock were fully charged. I didn't use it at all and today, the transformer was charged, but the dock was dead. The battery drained a bit faster when I had it docked as well. I'm going to try deleting some of my apps that I recently downloaded to see if any of those are the culprit.

Re: ASUS Transformer Battery Drain Problem - the FACTS and SOLUTI

I had a rogue app once deplete my dock battery overnight because it kept the tablet awake, it was the Movies app... I think it was because I enabled GPS location and I was indoor and it kept trying to get a GPS lock, when I went into the battery stats the Movies app was at the top by a mile. It's never happened again since.

Your case sounds different tho, you're saying your keyboard will now wake the tablet all of a sudden when it didn't use to? Sounds to me like the power saving setting that controls that was somehow changed, did you check that?

yup, checked to make sure the battery saving mode for the dock was enabled still. I rebooted and everything seems to be better... when I charged the dock (charge them seperately with 2 chargers) and the dock charger was incredibly hot.

Re: ASUS Transformer Battery Drain Problem - the FACTS and SOLUTI

Quick Question on this thread -

I have a pad B50KAS, and a dock B80KAS. When docked, the battery drain (I have auto airplane mode, and I have dual battery widget) is perfect - 1% overnight.....but ONLY when their is power in the dock. If the dock is below 3%, and I put it to sleep with the pad at 90% (even with auto airplane mode, etc..) the drain is horrendous - 30% overnight as it seems the pad is trying to PUSH its charge down to the dock. Any thoughts?

When the dock pushes its charge up to the pad to keep it at 100%, the drain is fine even when asleep - but, when the opposite occurs - it is not. Anyone solve this?

By the way, I run the Astro Kill on services/processes/Apps before putting it to sleep.
