Asus transformer

I've bought an asus transformer 4.0 (ICS) after doing all my research on what I needed (or so I thought). I need some help as I assumed that I would be able to play games, etc on it once they were downloaded. I then discovered that I need a wifi connection to play them through Googleplay.
Have a made an expensive mistake? Will I have to have a wifi connecting to read book, play games and films?
Can anyone tell me (in very plain English) how to get around this please?
