it still boggles my mind why ATT waited so long to do this...it is because of this that i discovered on my own to "sideload" apps and well we all know what that means...god knows how many people learned how to do this just because of this.....
and I checked my phone and nothing yet. I am in L.A
It definitely works. I've done it on my Inspire. Doesn't achieve root, but sideloading will be enabled after you follow the steps (no option in settings, just enabled sideloading). It also sticks (the change is permanent, even after reboots )
This is interesting. I was checking to see if maybe it was a stealth update, so I opened application settings to see if I could check the "Unknown Sources" checkbox, and it's gone! They must have taken it out in the last software update. I tried to install an app from Amazon to double check, and it's still blocked.
I restarted my phone and I got the update last night without any kind of notification or having to do anything to check for updates. Restart your phone then go to settings> applications and see if "Unknown Sources" is listed.
Restart your phone and it may be on there. I just did what the above poster did and I somehow got the update without notice at all. It may not even be a software update after all. FYI I got the Inspire 4G.
I got the Unknown Sources available. I just checked and it was there. Amazon app store now installed finally. I am in central jersey if that makes a difference. Stock with latest firmware. i didn't check for an update either.
