Anybody else see the new commercial mentioning AT&T joining up with T-mo during the new episode of 'The Glades'?

I'll post a video of it later on, couldn't find it on youtube...

Haha. Well planning to and doing aren't the same thing but as much more eyes as they're pumping into the government to make it happen, it'll probably happen.

if they allow this to happen, then what little faith i had in the gov't will be gone. it'll be a royal screwfest for all wireless customers, not just tmobile.

How do you figure?

I think the opposite; the merger will increase scrutiny of the market going forward, and carriers won't get away with anything. There will be enormous pressure to contain prices, and offer a wider range of options for consumers. It will also have the side effect of strengthening AT&T's 3G footprint, and allowing them to roll out a much stronger LTE network.

The gov is already bought by the corporations, they wont do anything to stop the merger.

I just don't want to have to listen to those commercials that say "the new AT&T" again.

Tmo has the best pricing of the 4 major carriers. AT&T will never continue to offer the lower priced plans of Tmo....the new AT&T will always be the same old AT&T...

History shows that as there is less competition for a given product or service, the prices of that product or service will go up and there will be less innovation. This is why the US government put a stop to monopoly's a long time ago with very few exceptions. Competition helps keep prices low and ideas for new technology flowing. If this merger goes through it has the potential to be felt throughout the industry by raising prices and keeping new ideas from being developed as quickly as we have become used to. Come on people this is basic economics. All you have to do is look at the "Big 3" in Detroit to see what happens when you have less competition. The car industry became stagnant until Japan came in with new ideas, cheaper built vehicles and better quality. Due to this Detroit suffered for many, many years and is still recovering.

But, there is still a lot of competition. You have ATT, Verizon, and Sprint on a national level, then all the regional carriers such as US Cell, Cellcom, and others.

For most people, the regional carriers are just as competitive, because they don't leave the area.

For instance, most everyone I know in my area are happy US Cellular customers. They don't work for me, so I have AT&T.

I don't really see a problem with the merger. Tmo would probably be having price increases anyhow to keep up.

Tmobile would and Sprint would increase prices; based on needs. But, they would always be lower than Verizon and ATT. If Sprint didn't NEED customers because of better service else where; they would in turn charge more for their services as they could. Just like ATT and Verizon know more people will pay the extra money for them over Sprint because of their coverage. If Sprint was just as good as both companies I wouldn't be paying would I would for 1 phone from verizon for 2 phones.

People go went to Tmobile and Sprint for the prices. Not the coverage. So with Tmobile out of the way all you have for a legit company alternative for cheaper prices is Sprint. But those T-Mobile customers didn't go to Sprint in the first place. But, maybe they will now and Sprint will gain customers.

So who knows.
