AT&T Galaxy S4 - Text issue

I Was trying to clear storage space now I am unable to text - I can text to an mms group message but I am unable to send an sms text - can someone help me please? I have only had the s4 for 4 months and I am running low on memory - tried to disable some app's - I also tried moving all my pictures to computer, and I am unable to open a lot of my pictures also. Help please!
