AT&T LG G4 update

So far so good. Going to run this as my daily driver again and see how it holds up.

Does seem smoother overall in all aspects I had complaints with before the update.

Yes, Wild Tangent is the games app. It is probably safe, but is major crapware. Gotta love AT&T

Wow, when will they ever learn. Or more importantly when we ever learn to stop buying carrier branded phones. They know that 98% of users will never know what this app is and possibly run it. I wonder how much you have to pay AT&T to include an App with an update? Bet it costs a lot. Greedy bastards!

Seriously! Of all the things that they could have done in an update, they do what? Add more effing bloatware?? I hate you AT&T. This is why my next phone will be a Nexus.

So I've held judgment for a couple days now, but I feel this update definitely has improved overall functionality and experience of the phone. I had many many issues with lag and missed touches, so this is quite a turn around for my experience. I don't know if the quickness is due to the cache being cleared out during the update process, (which I wish lg implemented the ability to do so on a regular basis) so I guess we'll still have to see how it is over a couple weeks. But missed taps and lag has been improved, maybe not 100%, but appreciatively better. Still things like swiping apps closed and the volume slider taking forever to raise and lower, are still there, but all these things have gotten better.

The camera app opens RIDICULOUSLY quick now...

Battery life...still the same really. Haven't noticed much difference with that. Didn't expect anything better either, cause I use my phone a lot, and there's hardly anything you can do software wise to improve the power consumption this screen uses.

So with most things, time will really tell how well how things go, but definitely an overall improvement so far. HOWEVER, a little late on the update, LG, since I've already ordered a 6P. But I guess you already got my money, so what do you care?

After the update my location services keeps changing itself back to high accuracy. Drains my battery like crazy. Checked all my apps and none seem to be the culprit.

How's battery life doing after the update for those of you who have had it for at least a week? I'm rooted and debloated with exposed installed and don't want to undo all of that with marshmallow coming unless battery life is improved.

It is significantly better. Before I would have to switch batteries out around 5 to prevent my phone from dieing, now I can push it much farther, thaw farthest I've gotten is 15 hours of use

At first it seemed about the same, but I've seen that it has improved slightly for me. Maybe not terribly drastic, but that's up to you if its really worth it or not. But your mileage may vary.

I'd say I would be at least down to 35-40% left by now, before the update. Not bad I guess.

I haven't found any battery life improvement. In fact, Android System is using a higher percent of battery than it used to, I can't say I noticed if it started doing this before the update or after. I don't know if that has to do with some app, with the update, or just the fact that I've now had the phone for several months and it's slowing down.

Same here. I can say for certain that with mine it happened after the update. Android system drains a lot more battery, and I feel like my battery life in general may be a bit worse than before.

Since marshmallow is so close I think I'm just gonna wait to update after seeing how MM works for people. Hopefully LG and AT&T won't piggyback more bloatware in with MM, and don't block root. I can always debloat with debloater tool though. Hope doze works well.

I've actually found my phone to be smoother and using less battery since the update. Go figure.

Yeah I'm definitely having problems. I just couldn't shake the Android system draining my battery so I broke down and did a factory reset. It got worse. ' Phone' started showing up at the top of my battery drain list. Not voice calls mind you, but phone. That's without using or even opening the app.

Restarts did nothing, so I did another factory reset. Now not only is phone still draining, but Android OS is even topping it. Standby battery has gotten quite a bit worse than it was before the update. In all honesty battery life in general is not horrible, I can still make it through most of the day, but not always, and it's a lot harder to do so. I don't like that an update made my phone perform worse than before.

Now I'm wishing I would have just kept my iPhone, I've never had any problems like this with it. Battery was so much better. I already didn't like the battery life sacrifice I was making by switching back to Android and now after this I absolutely feel like I made a mistake.

The worst part is I can't even sell this thing because of how much I owe vs how cheaply you can get it elsewhere. LGs really making me feel screwed in that area as well. I don't like this uneven pricing where you get such massive discounts and promotions if you buy their products from one place over another. At this point I'm pretty done with LG after this.

Try warranty replacement with your carrier or LG? I'm giving it a try to fix my data, WiFi and call issues.

My battery life is much better. I don't have a lot of apps syncing, also restrict background data on a lot. I can get 24+ hours on a single charge now.

What's your Screen On Time for a full 100% to Empty cycle? Can you post your battery stats? Some app may be acting up and killing your battery in the background.

After my first reset I had the idea of installing apps slowly to check for bad ones, so I spent the first day with NO apps other than what came on the phone. But 'Phone' was still at the top of the list with bad standby time. I immediately gave up on that and just installed all my apps again.

I've also turned location on high and started using Gmail again, which was draining my battery in the past. I figured if I'm gonna have battery drains either way I may as well at least use my phone to its full potential.

Phone still tops the list every day now, dueling with Android os but usually coming out on top. I have no idea what happened with this update but I've also had a couple other weird things: my call reception seems worse. I was losing signal in Wal-Mart where I am usually able to talk to my wife just fine. And the other night my notification light kept pulsing blue, very slowly, even though I had no notifications.

Tomorrow I'll try going a whole cycle and taking screen shots, but my screen time seems to be decent still. Used to get 5 to 6 hrs, now seems more like 4 to 4 and a half maybe.

Oh yeah I forgot, I have ok Google enabled from any screen, and now whenever my screen locks and I unlock it, it's not working. The "say ok Google" words in the search bar on my home screen are gone and it doesn't respond. Sometimes it comes back after a long while, sometimes not. If I open Google now and then close it, it works again. But that's all it takes is my screen locking. One second the words are there, lock and unlock, and they're gone.
