Is it better to sign a 2 Year Contract to get $100 off a watch, or $450 off a phone? This is the point of my thread. Not to mention it is a way to get a new phone and to pay $15 a month on your line, instead of burning an upgrade and making your line fee go up to $40 a month.I'm beyond confused...
Two-year is a pretty long time for a gadget like this. Have you ever consider the option of swap the sim with your existing phone when needed, hence no need to pay any monthly service fee?
I'm confused. What is your monthly plan payment for both the phone and the Gear S? And if you bought the phone on contract you have to pay $40 per month in addition to the mobile share plan you picked ie the10GB for $100 a month. Is it better to sign a 2 Year Contract to get $100 off a watch, or $450 off a phone? And yes I picked up my Gear S and everything went as planned. I paid $325 in store, and they used my line of service that I bought a phone with. No hassle, easy as cake.
Will that work? I know on the note 4 it easy to take the sim card out. If that will work then that would be perfect.
I added a new phone line, got a new phone, use the phone on my primary line that is charged $15 a month, and put the Gear S in place of the new line that was $40 a month, now $10 a month. So my phone bill is going up $10 a month, that's it.I'm confused. What is your monthly plan payment for both the phone and the Gear S? So for example, you are on 10GB Mobile Share with 2 Lines of Service Out of Contract. You should be paying $100 + $15 + $15 = $130.
Upgrading either of these lines with a new phone and a 2 Year Agreement will make your new bill $100 + $40 + $15 = $155. So your bill goes up $25 a month for 2 Years, or $600 increase over 2 Years.
Now if you were to add a new phone line and get a new phone (at a discount) then you are now at $100 + $15 + $15 + $40 = $170 a month. But if you take that third line you added and put it on the Gear S, it will drop the price down to $100 + $15 + $15 + $10 = $140, an increase of $10 from what you had before.
I can't explain it any easier for you. If this is too hard to understand, then maybe you should just do what is easiest and not do this, but it works.
But aren't the Note 4 and Gear S Sims different sizes? To confirm, swap SIM card works fine. When you have Gear S and phone together, there is really no need to have the SIM card in it. Gear S can connect to your phone via BT or Wi-Fi if BT is too far away. If you leave home with Gear S only, just take the SIM card out of your phone and put into Gear S. Let your phone connected to your home wifi, this way, your Gear S can still connect to your phone remotely (Via Samsung account) and all the notifications still work but now you have a fully functional phone that can make or receive calls as well text messages just fine. No need to pay AT&T $10/mo just for this little convenience and dealing with two phone numbers and delayed forwarding calls.
Same here. Got a pretty strong pitch for switching to a Mobile Share Plan as well. I am thinking about it. As time goes by they are making it more and more difficult to keep the unlimited plan. I am not sure it is worth it, I have never used more than 10GB in any given month and they are no offering 30GB and it is not throttled (at least that it what they say). I would be interest in any input on this to help me decide. I have decided that the watch is not too big but I can not get in paired with my phone yet, so I can't decide if I am going to keep it. If I do decide to keep, I am going to have to decide if I can deal without using it as phone as switching SIMs is to inelegant a solution for the way I foresee my usage of the watch.I bought mine off of contract from AT&T this morning. AT&T refused to give me a data plan unless I gave up my unlimited data. Really hoping to come up with a solution where I can swap the sim cards.
Nothing a $5 tool can't handle. Buy a Nano SIM cutter from Amazon and trim your Micro SIM down to Nano size. Keep the left over plastic so that you can adapt it back when you need to use Micro SIM. Some tools even come with the plastic frame. But aren't the Note 4 and Gear S Sims different sizes?
From my smokin' hot Note 4
That seems like a hassle. I just replaced it with my tablet line instead.Nothing a $5 tool can't handle. Buy a Nano SIM cutter from Amazon and trim your Micro SIM down to Nano size. Tablet lines are data only with no phone numbers associated with it. Can you actually make phone calls or SMS on it when your phone is not around? That seems like a hassle. I just replaced it with my tablet line instead.

Yep it rang in from the number that used to be on my tablet. It's not $10 extra since I just replaced my device. Works for me!Tablet lines are data only with no phone numbers associated with it. Can you actually make phone calls or SMS on it when your phone is not around?
Hassle or not, it's better than paying extra $10/mo.
So I was going to cancel a contract line, so for me paying $10 a month is cheaper than the ETF. And yes swapping SIM cards is no bueno if you are going to do it 2 or 3 times a day.Hassle or not, it's better than paying extra $10/mo.
