AT&T S3 4.4.4 KitKat update

Was informed by some techs at AT&T that the 4.4.4 update will be available for download in the near future for the S3. No date was given, but I was assured it will be soon. Has anyone else heard anything about the update?

I've been operating under the assumption that the 4.4.2 update was the last for the GS3. It would be nice if we got 4.4.4 and it actually fixed a couple a bugs from 4.3 and 4.4.2...a modem update would be nice too.

EDIT: and come to think of it...how do we know that any update will fix or add any functionality...but instead make it harder to root.
