No more worries if my APN settings are correct.

Is this AT&T proper or an MVNO? Where are you geographically? I only get about half that in Rochester NY on ATT Straight talk; not sure if it's a Rochester problem or Straight talk QoS problem.

Is this the regular APN posted everywhere or did you change anything?

APN phone
Proxy, port, username, password, server all not set
Mmsc HTTP://mmsc.mobile.art.net
MMS proxy proxy.mobile.art.net
MMS port 80
MCC 310
MNC 410
Authentication not set
APN type

Hope that helps. Ready, Set, Rampage

If I go ahead and change my plan away from my iPhone one instead of trying to make it work with iPhone data plan attached, is it necessary to change my APN from default?

A friend of mine just got his iPhone unlocked, and switched over to Straight Talk on the AT&T network (his house and work are in T-Mobile dead zones). Anyhow, he said the difference in data speeds across the same physical network are literally night and day.

That kind of makes me wonder what AT&T was doing to him.

So I just got my nexus a few days ago. I'm coming from a One X on AT&T. I think I'm on the LTE plan. So from what I've read so far is to get the best speeds I need to change my plan to 4g and adjust to these settings. This right?

Exactly. Give them the imei number and they will put you on a 4g plan.

Up to you. I am on att LTE an and my nexus does just fine on the APN above. I switch my SIM back and forth with my note 2. Plus if you are on unlimited data it will be 5GB before you are throttled instead of 3GB. If that matters.
