AT&T Subsidized

The "Desire" supposedly coming to AT&T, will be a close match to the N1, but doubt the N1 will be subsidized.

I've heard of a few people getting a subsidized iPhone 3GS for $200, selling it on ebay for $400 - $500 and then buying an N1. It's not quite as good as being subed from AT&T, but it's still a nice break in price and you end up with an N1.

I guess would be know. Seems like AT&T wants to have a bit of control over what is loaded on their Android devices. Honestly seems like Verizon & AT&T are switching roles. Example is with the backflip. It's kind of crazt not having Google search on a GOOGLE ANDROID DEVICE.

I'm sure it's not a complete role reversal. AT&T will probably have the HTC Desire before VZW even gets the N1. :(

in the sense I was referring to, yes. AT&T isn't even supporting the n1. AT&T was never the type to want to lock down phones. Verizon was. Verizon isn't attempting to put the amount of bloatware AT&T is and only allowing one search engine that isn't even google on a google phone.

honestly it seems like an unspoken agreement with apple apple kept out 3g voip for AT&T's sake because theres no reason apple would care about that. and now AT&T cripples the android devices they get so they are closed off like the iphone.

But yes vzw used to be the device crippler but glad to see they learned their lesson to bad AT&T has not.

more then likely not going to happen they probably would have subsidized it to begin with

I'm one of those who bought an iPhone and sold it to partially pay for the N1 - it worked great for me but time might be running out to get a good price with news of the next gen iPhone approaching in summer.

I don't think AT&T would ever subsidize an N1. Look at what they did to the backflip and that dell one. I'm sure Google approached them to offer the phone but after they found what AT&T would do they opted not to sell it through them.

I talked to the rep in the ATT store. (Very knowledgeable gal).
She said they expect the new iPhone about the same time as the rumors suggest, and they have a newer android phone in testing as we speak (she didn't know what it was but I suspect it was the Dell Aero).

Mine was not the first Nexus One she has seen in customers hands. Nor the first HTC). But she said corporate is clearly iPhone centric and can't see too far ahead.

Personally folks, I suggest you save up your money and buy your next phone outright and unlocked if you can. It makes it SO much easier to resell.
