[AT&T Variant Note 8] Anyone missing the "Unknown Sources" option in Settings to sideload Apps after Oreo update?

Started from this thread...

https://forums.androidcentral.com/s...26-ads-sound-galaxy-apps-app.html#post6225728

I was looking to sideload an app and need to enable the "Unknown Sources" located in
Settings > Lock Screen and Security and should be a option for Unknown Sources...
but it's not there on my phone as shown in pic below.

Checking if others with AT&T variant has it because user chanchan05 checked and has an Exynos version and has it. If others with AT&T version have it then I guess some glitch from Oreo update and will be frustrating that I may have to reset the OS just to get it back. TIA.

I think that it is in a new place for AT&T Oreo.

Look in Settings -> Apps -> 3 dots -> Special Access -> Install unknown apps

Actually i did browse around and saw that section... But I didn't know what to make of it... From glance it doesnt seem like it would be here to do it.

I mean it looks crazy... It shows the apps I already have installed an they are all from the Google Play store... So I don't know why some say allowed and some not when already installed.

Also how does it allow me to install new apps in future by sideloading... Is the APC going to show here after I download it and then run from here??

DAMN AT&T!!

There are several articles about this Oreo feature, here is one -> https://www.zdnet.com/article/andro...pp-installs-from-unknown-sources-a-lot-safer/

I posted my findings on that original thread at top but I guess the answer for me is that... You don't need 'unknown sources' anymore to sideload apps.

Just to see what it would do... I downloaded adguard directly from their site and then ran app after download and all it asked was if I wanted to install and it installed. (screenshot below)

Smh... Didn't have to enable any unknown sources option I guess to install a non Google play downloaded app.
