AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile have finally agreed to replace SMS with a new RCS standard

Re: AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile have finally agreed to replace SMS with a new RCS standard

I read that yesterday. The optimist in me thinks this is good news. But sensible me thinks they're just doing it for more data to sell to 3rd parties.
I'm also thinking the reason they're joining together is so they can all charge extra for this service and no one can cry about it and move to another carrier.

Either way, they'll figure out some way to screw us with it. It'll be its own app that you can only get on carrier locked phones, they'll charge for it, scrape our data, something. I have little faith in the goodness of US carriers.

******* crappy useless US carriers ... Hate them to the core

Google should have never bent over to them in the first place. Treat them like how Apple does.

I've got it set up in all of my phones. It took several tries to get it going.

Yep. All makes sense now as to why USA carriers didn't adopt Google's rcs and waited this long for their own "lucrative" version. Pffft.

I don't even know what it is..... but I do know I'm perfectly happy with messaging just the way it is on our phones and I'm not setting anything else up, or paying for anything else ;-)

I have always said screw them, because that's exactly what's going to happen if they try and screw with me. We're paying $81 a month for the exact same plan on AT&T that my sister is paying $130 for on Verizon, because I hammer AT&T mercilessly and continuously to keep our bill down. I just got a $50 credit because of AT$T's voicemail system being down. I hate to say it but you have to be angry and enjoy riding these piece of s**t U.S carriers to get treated right.

I've been told I have anger management issues but I've always said **** that LoL.

Love it, I do the same thing and they say the same about my anger 😂😂

Got it going last night on 2 of my devices
When I first tried it I did both of the RCS setting at once and it did not work. I then tried each setting individually and it then worked.

If this is all about making money on consumers, I can see people going to an iPhone. iMessage is free and excellent.

Pixel 4. It is a little finicky. It took quite a few minutes for it to "work".
