Hey, I got my note 2 a few days ago and have been using it on campus with at&t wifi which is in just about every building. Yesterday I found a list of safe apps to disable and went through disabling (not uninstalling) mostly bloatware on this phone. Now when I connect to att wifi it wants me sign in and buy the wifi. Apparently Ihave disabled some app that was telling att wifi that I am an attempt smartphone with a data plan. Any ideas as to what the application might be? I can go back and enable apps but I don't want to enable them 1 at a time till I figure out which one it is.

Thanks for all help!

Just a wild guess: AT&T Smart WiFi.
Be a shame if you have to enable it because it's got some problems. But worth it if you don't have to pay again.

Good guess.. that was one of the few apss I tried re enabling in hopes that it would help. No luck though.. when connected to the att wireless, it still directs me to a page to buy the wireless service.

Any other ideas?

I might just re enable all the apps again when on campus.. then go though and disable 2-3 at a time till I find which app caused the issue.

Andrew

AT&T HOT SPOTS Make sure you Do NOT disable. It allows you to log in automatically.

Andrew, please be so kind as to post the list of apps you stated you have that you can disable on the Note2. List them all please.

I did disable Hot spots. But I re-enabled it afterwords and it still wouldn't connect. So maybe this is all or part of the issue?

I will post a full list soon!
Thanks!

I think you went overboard with disabling stuff. I think at this po8nt your best bet may be to do a factory reset. Most the ops here have said the "Bloat" comes from AT&T's apps other than Hot Spots.
With the advent of 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update, changes were made. Unfortunately for some reason no one has been able to secure a detailed change enhancement log to help pinpoint whats causing some of these issues.

+1 on the overboard. I would reinstall all the apps and then do a few (2 or 3) a day to see if they affect the operation of your phone. Leave hotspots but it is ok to disable ATT smart wifi. I uninstalled it with Titanium backup and I still get signed in on wifi at Starbucks. You must have taken out a system app connected to wifi.

Here are the ones I uninstalled without a change to my Note 2 that I can tell.
