Atrix 4G release pushed ahead to 2/22 to beat TB!

Was at an AT&T corp. store last night to check out the Inspire 4G. They had two laptops set up with the Atrix 4G's laptop dock in the center of the sales floor. No Atrix yet but a "coming soon" placemarker.

The 4G LTE radios must be enormous... the Atrix packs a battery that is 530 mAh bigger(!!!), a higher rez display, and a dual core cpu, and it's still way thinner than the Bolt.

I say we start a barrage of tweets at @VerizonWireless today letting them know that since they've waited so long with no TB announcement, we now have a handful of 4G options to choose from, that will be released in the next week. Be sure to include the #FAIL hashtag.

I've been doing this for a few weeks. :)

Here. are. some. examples.

Full disclaimer, I pre-ordered the Atrix. We have wireless service at our company with ATT, VZW, and Sprint. We use ATT for most voice, VZW for data cards, and a single employee on Sprint (coverage reasons).

What am I honestly missing about the Thunderbolt? I am not trying to start a flame war here, but to me it's the exact same device as the EVO with an LTE radio? It's technically a device 8 months old with a upgraded radio. Spec for Spec it's the same phone, actually it's a tad thicker.

I was pondering this device for myself... I had the EVO for a few weeks and didn't care much for it's battery and screen (to each there own though) so I could not find any justification to buy/wait on it. Maybe you guys can explain what I am missing? Why is this phone so hyped and everyone on VZW want's it?

Ah no, not spec for spec the same. It has the newer Snapdragon processor (8650 vs 8655), more internal memory (8gb to maybe 1gb), more RAM (768 to 512) and then the Thunderbolt comes with a 32gb micro SD installed. Also I think the Bolt may have a better screen.

Not to mention the fact that the TB can do simultaneous voice and data, a first for a VZW smartphone. If you like VZW's service then that's a pretty big selling point.

Ahhh... I didn't notice the 768 vs 512 RAM difference. The processor speed is still the same though, no @ 1 GHz? Just an upgraded chip?

Indeed. Clockspeed hardly matters, though. Tests show that it's a fairly big upgrade. You might want to watch the Wirefly review vids ... especially the one on the EVO vs Thunderbolt. It will show you how much of an upgrade the processor/GPU combo is. It's quite substantial.

Honestly, I don't see why people still compare it to an EVO. Literally the only two things it has in common is the screen size, clock speed, the fact that it's a "Snapdragon", and they both have a kickstand. It's a next gen Snapdragon, so it's faster per clock, more energy efficient, and it has a much, much faster GPU)... and the screen is SLCD vs regular LCD. And all the other hardware is different in some way or another. Finally, the kick stand is not even the same. It's a much beefier kickstand which implements things they learned from the EVO ... it now can stand the phone up in portrait mode.

Not to mention the phone is an aluminum unibody.

Overall, it has fewer things in common with the EVO than the G2, and the G2 is a 3.7" slide out keyboard phone.

RadioShack selling the Artix for $150 with no rebates :(

And this is where I think Verizon may be making the biggest mistake. I just don't think that Verizon can put the TBolt at $250. You can go back and forth on specs for each, but I don't know how anyone could justify a $100 (or 40%) price difference between the Atrix and TBolt.

anybody have thoughts on how long the TB will stay at $250? I haven't paid attention to the past smartphone releases (this will be my first). Do the prices remain steady for a long time after release? I know I'm dreaming but I'd love to get a BOGO deal and upgrade my 2 eligible lines at the same time for a great price.

They wont do BOGO until sales drop. I would say at least 2-3 months
