As was stated previously, enabling Packet Data allows you to access the Internet, send email, etc. There is only one way you can send/receive email or browse the web when Packet Data is off and that is if your Wifi is enabled.

To make it easier, forget the word "Packet". ---Data is Data--- You either send/receive data over your carrier's network or you send/receive data over Wifi.

So no, you can't access the web via your browser if you have turned off (packet) Data.

I apologize! I was wrong when assuming that my data still worked if I turned off "packet data". I tried it again and if I turn off packet data, it also turns off my data connection. I was fooled by my wi-fi being active.

My phone doesn't. AT&T Samsung s3 doesn't have a packet data feature ...what do I do? Do I need to update something or what?
