ATT Galaxy S3 is getting the 4.1.2 update today

I got the notification in Seattle area today.

Question for anyone who might have upgraded - Does the upgrade restrict access to FoxFi or any other WiFI HotSpot apps? I am on the unlimited data plan and would not wanna lose that.

I know that Portable Hot Spot still works.

Thanks my phone is running a stock ATT 4.1.1 image that has root already injected into it but uses a stock recovery. Provides root but won't trip the flash counter. Found it over on xda. I'm holding off on the update for now until I find out if I can update without losing root.

I might just go for it anyway. No biggie if I did lose root cause I could always use Chainfire's root as it works on the new update then reset the counter with TA.

I almost feel like it does give you an option to reset and apply. I personally have favored factory resetting after applying updates though and can't really remember.

I didn't even bother with this update. Imo the changes after the update aren't drastic enough to warrant completely setting up everything again.

Well, looks like I have to eat my words. Ever since the update my phone has been consistently getting very laggy primarily when in Chrome or in Go Sms (after no recent updates on their part.) and it's froze and restarted itself at least 5 times since I updated on Sunday.

(Sigh) Can't get a break...

I guess I'll factory reset the damn thing tomorrow on my friend's WIFI. That is, of course, if I don't smash it into the wall first.

I tried to the root-without-tripping-the-flash-counter method found here, but I kept getting a soft brick. So I just did it via the Sprint method... If I ever need to take my phone in for warranty work, I'll just boil it first... ;) Or I'll have Aaron Hernandez take care of it for me...

Funny how stuff works on one device but not another. I feel the same way as you if I ever need to have it replaced under warranty. I can't even use an Android device anymore unless it's rooted. My GS3, Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and 10.1 were rooted the same day I bought them. So were my Captivate, Infuse, and Skyrocket and I ran custom ROM's on them. So far happy with rooted stock on the GS3 though that might change LOL

I'm currently updating my phone. After it downloaded the update, it restarted but once it was almost done restarting the screen froze showing the white Samsung letters. Does anyone else have this problem? This is the second time this happened to me. The first time I went to the AT&T device support center and got it fixed and she told me after she fixed my phone sometimes the apps I had were not compatible but it should work now. Actually, it didn't work. Same thing happened again. Anyone have this problem or is just me? What should I do?

Anyone have a laggy transition effect when opening folders on your home screen or is it just me?

I'm not noticing it. Using Nova Prime Launcher on my AT&T GS3.

Is anyone experiencing an issue when using "swipe" to dial a contact after the update? It worked flawlessly before, now I have to try multiple times to dial a contact by swiping to the right. Thanks much in advance!

Ok since the update mine doesn't seem to want to use headphones. I don't get the notification that they are plugged in and all sound is coming out the speakers. However when I unplug them I do get the little "headphones disconnected" message.

Updated last night and now I cannot swipe to call my contacts when they send me an SMS. I use this all the time!! Anyone else having this issue?? :(

You can still do this. You just have to start your swipe on the name, not the picture.
