ATT Note 3 update 4.4.4?????

It is the 4.4.4 update. Not seeing too much difference but supposedly more bug fixes and battery improvements than anything. I use Nova Prime so perhaps aesthetically it will seem even less different than 4.4.2 compared to stock Touchwiz.

Kernel date October 25, 2014, so no root yet, most likely. And will Safestrap 3.75 work on it once it's rooted?

adb, Google backup, backup apps up the ying-yang, and my phone is never more than 2 days old as far as a full ROM backup goes, so yawn.

It's an app - watch for it in the Play Store, so yawn.

Hmm, if you're not seeing a prompt to set it up, that's not a good sign. On the main page, after you put in your PIN, there should be a message that it's unavailable because you haven't set up a card yet or there should be a tap and pay option there. I would post a screenshot but I can't tap and pay on my phone on 4.4.2. You could look under settings too. I don't know if they've changed things in the last Wallet update and what I'm saying above is different.

Although I don't personally care if anyone updates or not, I just wanted to correct the above you said about SideSync. It has nothing to do with backups and is a very useful app that I personally use everyday. It allows you to mirror your phone to your PC, use your PC mouse and keyboard on your phone, and other useful functions. You don't need to upgrade your firmware to use it however anyway. But just wanted to clarify for others, this is not a backup function.

Well, that's messed up. Thanks for looking. The NFC chip support was supposed to be put in 4.4.4 and that is why Google removed it from the list of devices that won't work.

Hmm... I tried the update twice...and it failed both times. Could it be because the phone is rooted? Not at home to try to unroot it. It downloaded and failed part way through the install. Rebooted and brought me back to 4.4.2 :-\

If you've made any changes from stock, it will not update properly. You can flash the image yourself. I haven't looked to see if it's up on sammobile but there or xda is the place to look.

If you want it to update OTA, then flash back to stock 4.4.2 and then you can update OTA.

Well, good news. Now that I figured it out, I used Towelroot to root it, so I: Used SU to unroot, told the phone it was Friday(wait 24 hours for update...NO) and re-downloaded the update. It installed without a hitch. So far I see see some new flatter looking icons..and the phone is on 4.4.4 .....Time to see if anything else is noticeable.

Note 3 rooted with towel root here as well - failed to update. Please let us know how it turns out doing the process like you did. Were you able to re-root via towelroot post update?

When I had Wallet for the NoTe 2 on Sprint, there was no "Tap to Pay" button, you just put it up to the reader, it prompts you to enter your PIN even from the home TouchWiz screen and you just go from there.

As far as I understand, you just need wallet installed and nfc on. At the store just tap the phone and it does the rest. I haven't tested this yet as not many retailers use it.

The phone updated to 4.4.4 without a hitch after removing the Towelroot. ...But I have not tried to re-root it yet. I was waiting to hear more from the forum before I tried that.

You could try Kies. It will take some time to download a file that size through Kies, so just make sure you won't have to leave your computer shortly.
