I just loaded the new ATT security update on my Note 5 Unlocked.

Yes they definitely have! I have received security updates on a monthly basis since I purchased my AT&T Note 5 when it was first released. My GF has also received monthly security updates on her AT&T S6. I personally think security updates are far more important then software updates. We are both eagerly awaiting the release of the S8 as we both will be getting one.
