attaching document to gmail on droid evo

so here I am working with email and wondering while I can attach a Quickoffice doc to an email using hotmail, but I can not attach a Quickoffice doc using gmail, which is native to the dang phone. Am I missing something or did Google miss this important use of email, I can attach all the pictures I want in gmail but no word or PDF files..what a bummer because most of my contacts know my gmail account and not my hotmail account...any help would be appreciated

The gmail app doesn't let you... find FilePicker and install it and you'll be able to attach anythign you want.
