I made sure I installed VC correctly through the mobile updater this time. Move the files over to my sd card. I run rageagainstthecage, but then I don't hear it reconnect the second time. I waited 5 min and it didnt connect so I tried adb shell and it said "error device not found". What could be doing this?

After you updated to VC did you turn USB Debugging on?

Did you try diff USB port? Also reinstall drivers, couldve gotten corrupted. Can you boot into android? More info plz

I don't think it's a problem with the usb port or driver because it connects the first time. And I can boot into android.

In your command prompt while Cd'd to your android sdk platform tools enter "adb start-server" without the quotations. Its kind of hard to trouble shoot with little info, you say the PC see's the phone but not adb?

The shell works the first time just not after I do rageagainstthecage. And yes my PC says that it's connected but the shell wont pick it up.

Well when I use the Control Center it appears to work fine accept it isn't really rooted. It says that it has been successfully rooted, but then it's not.

EDIT: Now I can't find your post, where did it go?

Running z4root on VC is a BAD idea (as you found out). The Control Center's root procedure is an expanded version of the tried-and-true root guide, but implemented in AAT. Ask questions about the Control Center in the Control Center thread only. Remember to be more descriptive, posts that simply say "it didn't work" or "it appeared to work but actually didn't" aren't helpful, and tend to get disregarded. The more information I (and others) get from you, the more help I (and others) can give to you.

+1 Agreed on the more information!

I figured he was just trolling earlier because of the lack of info and responses to suggestions...

Here is exactally what I did. I installed all the files on my computer that needed to be installed from the optimus zip. Then I put the update zipon my phone. I made sure my phone was pluged in. I turned on USB debugging. I didn't turn on the USB storage option that the phone gives you when you plug it in because I didn't think I was supposed to. I launched android sdk. I opened a command prompt. I went to my platform-tools. I rebooted my phone using "adb reboot recovery." Then I flashed the update zip and it failed. I launched the adb shell. I typed cd /sdcard. Then I opened up rageagainstthecage. It disconnected my phone then reconnected it then almost at the same time it reconnected it disconnected again. I looked in the bottom right hand corner of my computer and saw it still said there was a USB device connected. My phone was still charging. I never heard it reconnect again after 10 min so I ran the shell anyway. But just said error devise not found"

he means type "adb devices" and tell us what it says

and while we're doing that, when it won't reconnect, you first need to kill the server, so type "adb kill-server" followed by "adb start-server"....then I bet it works...(pretty sure the rageagainstthecage on screen text tells you to restart the adb server...)
