Audio Distortion while playing games with blutooth headphones

I've searched high and low and could not find a rhyme or reason much less a solution to my issue. When playing a game with Bluetooth headphones connected the audio is distorted. I'm running n dev on a 6P but it persisted before n and even b4 m (i'm pretty sure). I've tried a range of headphones from cheap $15 dollar ones up to $300 headphones and none worked properly. Music and video have no issue.
