Audio distortions during phone calls

As of today every phone call I have had, the upper ear peiece where I listen to my calls their is a crackling disortion sound. My speakers are fine but the ear speakers are have a crackling sound. I notice the ear peiece always gets dirty from my pocket how can I clean it ? Google support is useless.
