Audio interference in recorded video?

I hadn't really used the video recording feature on my S3 much, but started to a few weeks back. I am getting a buzzing sound in video playback that I recorded, mostly in the left speaker. When I zoom in, the buzzing all but disappears. When I keep the video zoomed out, the buzzing stays. Called Virgin Mobile, who eventually had me do a factory reset on the phone. Nothing changed. It is still under warranty, so they shipped out another unit. After the new phone was all set up, it was making the same sound. Thought maybe it might be my SD card, so recorded video right to the internal memory and the buzzing was still there. I use a ZeroLemon extended life battery, so I swapped that out with the battery it came with and have the same thing. I even uninstalled every possible app on my phone to see if one of them was the culprit, and the buzzing is still there. Thought maybe I might be getting some interference from something in my house, so I took the phone out into the middle of the woods, and I still have the buzzing. I remembered that I had recorded a video back in February and stuck it on YouTube, and there is no buzzing on it what so ever. My girlfriend also just got a Virgin Mobile S3, and the audio on her recorded video is exactly the same. I found a video that I recorded and uploaded to YouTube shortly before I was upgraded to Kitkat, and there is zero background noise. Virgin Mobile is sending me yet another phone, and I'd really rather not go through all this again. Kinda at a road block as to what to try next.

A New Moto X? LG G3?

Seriously though; are you suggesting that the problem started with the KitKat update?
If you play the video elsewhere (your computer, console, etc) does the problem persist?

I'm not sure how the Virgin Mobile device is, but you can't downgrade the Verizon variant from KitKat back to Jelly Bean; perhaps you can on your model, in which case you could determine if it was KitKat causing your problem.

I have no idea if Kitkat caused the problem, but I suspect it did, and I am running out of ideas as to what else could have caused it. Uploaded videos to YouTube that were recorded on both phones feature the buzzing sound. A video that my first phone recorded days before I got the Kitkat update had no buzzing. I'm a new user, so I can't link the videos.

The only thing I could suggest would be to try downgrading to Jelly Bean and see if the problem goes away. You can look here for the firmware - select the drop-down list in the upper left corner and find your model number. Download the 4.3 firmware, then you'll need to use a tool called Odin (just Google it - look for v3.07; find a source on XDA) to load it. Instructions on how to use Odin can be found here.

As I noted earlier, downgrading from KitKat to Jelly Bean on the Verizon variant can cause some serious problems; unfortunately I can't tell you what the behavior is likely to be on your carrier model.

Also worth noting is that, even if you are successful in rolling back to 4.3, you'll have to figure out how to block the update to 4.4.x, otherwise you'll be back at square one.
