Audio Jack not working, how to fix?

I just brought this Nexus 9 from Best Buy. Everything is amazing...however when I plug in my earphones, the sounds just comes out through the speakers. It doesn't seem like it even registered that there are earphones plugged in. I replaced my Nexus for a new one, yet same issue. What can I do to fix this?

Try a different headphone plug, seems strange to have two with the same issue.

Also make sure the plug is fully seated into the jack. Sometimes a new jack is tight and can require a little extra force to fully seat it in.

Do the headphones work properly on other devices like your computer? Seem very strange that 2 sets would have this issue unless you are using something like a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter.

Take those headphones into best buy or somewhere and try them on the display model n9.

Did you try a tablet reset? Can't tell if this is hardware or software issue.
