Audio just stopped working

I have a stock Galaxy Note 4 on Verizon and a 2016 Civic. Yesterday during audio playback it just cut out. After restarting the phone and car and verifying that the phone itself will play the audio from the apps and the car stereo still works with the radio, the only remaining source of the problem is Android Auto. The video still works and I can still have it run Google maps (voice guidance doesn't work, obviously) and the little progress bar still moves as though the audio track is playing on Pandora so it definitely thinks it is playing the audio files. Does anyone have any ideas?

It sounds like the car audio, not the phone, so I'd head for Honda.

I'm gonna try replacing the USB cable first

Replacing the USB didn't work, I'll go have Honda take a look and report back for posterity.
