Is it me or is Comedy Central website blocking audio for the Android platform? The Flash video comes in fine but no audio - even on embedded Flash clips outside CC's site. I can play them fine on my Mac desktop and any other Flash embedded video from other sites plays audio and video fine on my Tab 10.1. I've never seen this behavior before where Flash video plays differently on different systems.

It is mute by default, look for a preview where you can see the volume option, I found on the ugly americans... After that all the shows work great.:D

Thanks. That is really bad design. I can see the mute button on my desktop version of the site but it's hidden on the Tab version. Brilliant...

Okay, just tested. Audio on Comedy Central vids is off by default with no way to turn it on using the stock Honeycomb browser. However, if you use Opera or Dolphin browser the audio switches on when the play starts. I have no idea why this would be ... but there ya go. Hope this helps other Jon Stewart fans out there in Tab-land.

Seriously, there are all kinds of "design flaws" and bug throughout that tablet. That's what drove me to take mine back. That and it really was just to big to be portable for me even though I loved the screen.

Yeah, I've decided that Dolphin is my Comedy Central App. I like the stock browser for everything else. BTW, I code Actionscript in Flash and this is definitely a screw up on the programmers at Comedy Central. Mute by default is just dumb since why would someone expect the sound to be off when hitting the play button?

This is really a screw up by the programmers at Comedy Central not Google or Samsung. The choice of being able to play it AT ALL is the reason I chose Android over Apple for a tablet.

It's not Android. It works fine on my Flyer

The Flyer and Tab 10.1 run two totally different operating systems of Android.
The Flyer runs Gingerbread, while the Tab runs Honeycomb.
Therefore if an app or feature works on one, it's no guarantee it will work on the other.
HTC went with Gingerbread because it's apparently the most stable of the two.

Yes, gingerbread is definitely more stable right now. The person I responded to didn't say comedy central wouldn't run on honeycomb. He said it wouldn't run on Android. Gingerbread is definitely Android and that was my point. Its a browser issue not giving the option to turn on the volume also. If a different browser works, which it does, then its just another bug and for that, I'd blame Samsung since they wanted to be the first with 3.1 out and rushed it. They had a working 3.0 version with the touchwiz overlay, scrapped it and loaded 3.1 sa fast as they could. That's why there's an assload of issues.

The solution is simple but counterintuitive.

I remember seeing a red little speaker icon on the upper right side of the carousel (slideshow like applet at their home page). It used to turn the sound on when clicked on it.
For some peculiar reason the carousel does not always show this icon but it is there. If you go to that location, you will notice that the pointer changes to hand. This is where the ghost speaker icon is hiding. Click on it once, DO NOT close your browser, go directly to the clip that you want to watch. Most probably you will be able to do so with proper sound.

This method works in the described way in IE. In Chrome, the pointer does not change. It is pointing finger throughout. You may have to try a few times. The ghost icon is about 1/2" from the edges of right top corner (at my 20" screen). This may vary depending on your screen size. I did not try this method with other browsers.

Thought that it might help as the solution was not specific to browsers that I tested.
