Audio playback cuts off when lock screen is activated? Nexus 5, Lollipop 5.0.1

[AC Question]

Searched all the internetz high and low for this problem without finding anything...
So while playing music (Spotify for instance) I can turn screen off and keep audio playback as usual. But as soon as I press the power button to turn screen on and show the lock screen my audio gets cut off. The track keeps playing, it actually goes on pause for a split second in the lockscreen widget but immediately continues playback, just no audio coming thru on headphones, the speaker or bluetooth/AUX -connection.

Haven't been able to find a single post mentioning a similar problem. Phone is Nexus 5 with Lollipop 5.0.1

Check the app settings to see if there is anything to disable turning off when lock screen is enabled. There should be an option in the settings.
