Yesterday in Australia 3G network was switched off resulting in that all phones that didn't have volte running could no longer send or receive phone calls. This includes most Xiaomi phones!! There is a fix however. By putting the following into you phone dial area the code *#*#86583#*#* will clear the way!!
Hope this helps as it has caused extreme anguish with thousands of users in Australia

Welcome to AC!
I moved your post to general news and discussion as where u had it is where we great new members as yourself.

Thanks for your tip.

You must be using some very old Xiaomi phones in Aus because for some time now they've all been at least 4g, compatible.
My old Redmi Note 10 Pro from 2021 was 4g and there was a 5g version also.

My phone a Xiaomi Redmi Note 11pro +5G is very new and covers 4 and 5G !! However it failed to SWITCH to the higher bandwidth because it didn't have VoLTE installed, this is the reason not the phone!

A follow on from this:
In January as noted, my OPPO R9 ceased working, and I switched sim to my Xiaomi MI 10T... it didn't work, but then the TPG support uncovered the #*#*.....*#*X command, and it worked from then until May 4th, when I requested global roaming in Europe for SMS only. Since then the Xiaomi has not worked for phone calls incoming or outgoing, with repeated #*...*# commands to turn VoLTE on or off. Sometimes the Sim Network preferences show VoLTE On: on, sometimes the option is not visible, I cannot determine why, but I have screenshots with VoLTE on.
So I bit the bullet, tried to buy a Huawei with twin sims, but Huawei only offered an unknown Honor set, so I walked out and bought a Samsung. So three phones, OPPO R9, Xiaomi MI 10T and Samsung cheapie single sim Galaxy A55 which may or may not work! I'll travel with two phones.

Hi Chris, I did this fix with my Xiaomi Redmi 12 pro and VoLTE worked it showed up and I thought all was good..... This phone was only bought 12 months ago in Hong Kong.. today I got a letter from Coles saying yes we realise you have a modern 4g 5g phone but it can't be used on Australian networks because the phone relies on 3g to make emergency 000 calls..... Not sure what I'll do next....

I tried this on my 2021 Redmi Note 10 Pro and it flashed a message that said Network VoLTE check disabled. My Optus and Vodafone SIMs still show no signal. Would be grateful for any help.

Hi,
Was anyone able to fix this? My mobile phone is Xiaomi Redmi note 10 pro (released 2021)
When I called my provider, they said it's because my mobile phone was obtained from abroad (which is stupid).
Can this be fixed by changing the network settings?

No, apparently they also switched off all the 4G frequencies supported by the Redmi 10 Pro Plus in places like Brisbane but apparently not in Sydney. I have the same phone. My two cents - do not buy a Redmi from JB HiFi, it costs almost 200 to 300 AUD more than what you will pay online. Plus, JB HIFi also steals the charger right out of the box and when you open the charger box in the package, it's empty. They do state on their website listing that they are selling the charger separately and it is not included in the package they are selling

Well, making someone buy another phone after they spent $400 on getting one last year is just stupid.
It's not like everyone can go to JB HIFI and get a new phone.
Is there a dumb phone (one without anything and only calls) that still works?

Thanks @B.Diddy... This video and the app mentioned in it, helped me to confirm that here in the U.K. that my Vivo X Fold3 Pro does indeed have VoLTE calling enabled as default in spite of no separate settings. Here, in the U.K., 3G has already been turned off and 2G will follow in 2033.
