Hello All,
I have a Galaxy S5 on Rogers Network. I live in Northern Ontario Canada and I lose Rogers service in the last 10 minutes of my commute. Luckily for me Rogers recently rolled out their Extended Coverage program which allows me to connect to the next best network which is Bell. This switch would happen automatically once my phone went into emergency mode, it would scan and connect and my screen would show Rogers-EXT. This was nice because it gave me the chance to get to work parking lot, and text my wife and let her know I made it to work. (roads are terrible in winter and I don't get service working as a miner underground). Now for some reason, this auto switch doesn't work. I have to go into settings, scan for networks, then connect to one. This can take a few minutes which is frustrating because at one point this was automatic, now I have to sit and wait for this to complete before I can send a text. I don't recall changing any settings and my Mobile Data and Data Roaming are enabled, my network mode is set to GSM/HSPA/LTE (auto connect).
The only thing I can thing of that could have cause this, is I went to Cancun Mexico and purchased a travel plan through Rogers. I connected to a few towers down there manually so that I could use my phone. I also had problems making calls and had to contact Rogers to figure it out. I for some reason had international calling blocked. So I am not sure if this auto connect is something to do with my physical phone settings or something Rogers had done on their end?
Anyone have any ideas or input? Would be really nice to get this auto network switch to work again. I think the only per-requisites from Rogers Extended coverage to work is to be on a share everything plan and to have Data Roaming enabled which I do. I don't have a problem connecting to Rogers-Ext manually.
Thanks
Sean
