auto dark and light mode

Is there an option to schedule the light vs dark mode? I used to have that on the Samsung, where it would change based on time of day.

Not an option on the Pixel unfortunately. It'll be always on or off. Though won't be surprised if they add this option down the line. Shouldn't be that hard but you never know.
