Autobackup photos to a folder on desktop?

Hi,

The photos from my nexus 5 phone get autobacked up using the photos app. However, I can only view them on the web browser on my computer.

Is there a way to automatically sync these to a folder on my computer?

I tried downloading google drive, but the photos do not appear there. Also the Google+ autobackup for desktop only appears to let you sync photos already on your computer to the cloud.

If you install Google Drive on your computer, it will show up where your documents, hard drives, etc., show up, and the pictures should be in there. Just click on Google Drive, then look around in it for the pictures.
