Autofill not working in 8.1?

For example, when setting up a new credit card in Android Pay, it (the bank, I guess) needs to send a text with a 6-digit verification code. Android Pay asks for permission to use Autofill to automatically read the incoming text and insert the verification code.

It doesn't work. The text arrives but nothing happens until I manually read the text and type in the verification code.

I've noticed the same in other places where Autofill should work (I think...).

Anyone else?
