Automatically download MMS message

Is there a way to have the phone automatically download a MMS message. I have to click on it and then do it.

What messaging app are you using? I'm using google messenger and it automatically downloads an image when one is sent to me.

I'm using google hangouts and it downloads it automatically too. I remember it only asks you to download if you have low signal or something
