Automatically Switching from Wi-Fi to Carrier

When I'm in the house on Wi-Fi and leave, like driving off, the switch over to the carrier is automatic.

But, if I walk over to my shop, a 40x60 metal building... I have to manually turn off the Wi-Fi and the carrier will pick up the service.

Why won't it automatically switch when I go into the building and out of Wi-Fi range?

On edit... I don't see a way to email or text this, or any thread to someone. Or, how to add a ski shortcut on my homepage to a thread. If you can tell her how to do that, I'd appreciate it. 🤗

Thank you very much

Does the building have any wi-fi network that the phone is able to connect to? If so, the phone might connect automatically, but if the signal is weak, it might not be enough to connect to the web adequately before things time out. I've had that happen to me before.

Are you accessing the forums on the AC Forums app or the website? If it's the website, then just copy the URL. There's also a Share button right by the "#1" at the upper right of your original post (to the left of the bookmark icon).

I have a extender/repeater that uses a cable connected to the modem. That runs outside to a small antenna. It transmits to an antenna on the outside of the building and then by cable inside and to an office and my computer.

I could have a box installed that sends the signal all throughout the inside of the building, but for $200, I just was going to let it automatically switch over to my carrier, Verizon. That tower is visible to me and about 1/8 mile away.

But, I have to drive off up the driveway for it to jump over automatically to Verizon. If I'm in the building, I have to manually turn off Wi-Fi on my phone. I thought that when the Wi-Fi signal was too weak, it would automatically connect to the carrier, seamlessly. Just like when I drive into the driveway and it senses the Wi-Fi house signal and connects.

Noting really gets into that metal shop. It's insisted all around and even the overhead garage doors and windows. If I have the 10x10 garage doors up, the Wi-Fi from the modem in the house wille thru there and, I guess, the window closest to e visual line of sight and ran l reach my FIRESTICK on a TV in the corner of the building. Sometimes with the door closed, I assume thru the window with the TV right above that window. But, it won't make it to the most rear office at the back side of the building that is furtherest away.

I see, now about the website vs app into you sent. Before, I wasn't seeing the provision in the browser to save to home screen for some reason. I've used they before 🥴

Thank you

I think the issue has to do with how weak the signal is before the phone switches over. What I was saying previously is that phones can connect to a wi-fi network even when the signal is so weak it's essentially ineffective (which can be frustrating sometimes, as you're experiencing).
OHH ..... That makes perfect sense, now. I didn't realize that could happen. Thank you B.Diddy, you taught me something new, today.
Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge and for your patience.
