Automatically Turn Off Drive Mode When Bluetooth Disconnects

I have come to the dark side. I have been using an iPhone since it first came out. My prior phone was an iPhone 5. Anyways, I decided to jump over just today because I did not like that Siri does not automatically offer to read texts when in the car. Not to mention walking you through responding. I read up on the Galaxy S4 and found not only a ton of features but is superior in hardware.

To the point. I figured out how to automatically enable ?drive mode? by using the ?my place? option on S Voice. I have it set to trigger when I am in my car using the Handsfree Link. That works great. The problem is the phone remains in ?drive mode? after I leave the car. Yes, I know I can simply say the command to turn off drive mode as well as toggle it off in the notification area. However, I would prefer to have it done automatically when the "Bluetooth? connection is disconnected? I tried messing with Automateit to see if I could but was unsuccessful. Any workaround?

I use NFC Task Launcher, for enabling drive mode when connected to bluetooth, and disable when disconnected. No it doesn't have to be done with NFC tags, but it does make life easier.

I will check this out. I had not idea something like this existed. Very cool. Loving it.

I downloaded and am playing with NFC Task Launcher. I see I can get S-Voice to launch through it but how do I make it launch in "drive mode' specifically? Thanks.

Edit: Nevermind, I found it. Thanks again.

I believe car mode can be controlled by Tasker, so you can have it turn off automatically when your Bluetooth disconnects. You can also trigger tasks with NFC tags so it will really open up your options with them as well. What normally happens is you get Tasker for one specific purpose but then end up using it for way more once you realize how powerful it is.

I currently have the auto drive-mode option enabled as well...

When I enter my car (2013 Cadillac ATS), it takes about 5-10 seconds to pair to my phone via Bluetooth and then S Voice immediately pops up and turns drive mode on.

When I turn off my car, the Bluetooth connection ends and S Voice automatically turns off my drive mode. I'm not sure why this isn't happening for you as well.

I am probably going to try to automate this with Tasker instead, though...I hate how S Voice turns my screen on, bypassing my swipe to unlock, every time I get in my car. The whole point is to be able to keep the phone in my pocket! Now I have to take it out and turn the screen off every time. I may as well take it out and turn on drive mode myself...

Here is what I am trying to do:

When I get in my car and turn on Bluetooth, launch Sirius XM (Howard Stern)
Enable Drive Mode
Launch S Voice

That works off and on. Sometimes when the pair completes, my music library automatically opens. I will have to read the car manual to figure that one out. Also, when Sirius is playing and I receive a text, S Voice does not offer to read out.

When I exit the car, Bluetooth disconnects and I would like for SiriusXM to close
Drive mode to turn off
S-Voice to exit

This also works off and on.

Would using NFC tags make this work 100% of the time?

it would but you would have to have NFC tags and have NFC on. which i have done but sometimes its a PITA to scan the NFC some times
what i've done it just make a shortcut on my homescreen to toggle these features.

I received the tags and have been playing with them for hours. Still cannot get them to work perfectly.

Edit: Figured it out. Thank you all that responded. Much appreciated.

Can you post how you got it working? I can get to launch car mode and S-Voice but I want it to launch the S-Voice Drive mode screen.

I added my car's Bluetooth to My Places. I then long pressed on Driving Mode to bring up the options. Once there, I clicked on My Place for Driving Mode and made sure Car was checked. Now when it connects to my car's Bluetooth, it launches Driving Mode with S-Voice. Once it disconnects, it turns off Drive Mode and exits S-Voice.
