Is this phone already available? Might have to return the Nexus for this one, assuming it actually works...

Cool thing about Androind is that is has Google Voice Search built right in. Just hold that little search button down and when prompted say, "Call Sprint." It will call the closest Sprint store to your location and you can ask one of them.

All kidding aside, I don't think it's available now. I believe in the first post that came aout about the announcement it said that the available date was still undermined. Who knows, maybe someone at a Sprint store might actually have a clue on the date. Might be worth a call.

The press release I read said it was available now for $129. Since the price didn't seem right for a new smartphone, I figured that it must've been an error or something. In reviewing the PR again, I see that they embedded some info on the XPRT phone in there. I thought it odd that it would be available now...

I hope it's available in December because that is when I will be at the one year upgrade mark. I'm definitely upgrading to this phone. It being a world phone is my number one reason but everything else including webtop dock ability are added pluses.

I'm not due for an upgrade until May of 2012 so I have pleanty of time to think about it but I like what I'm seeing with the Photon 4G.

i had the droidX and loved the philblur! way more than anyother skin. the kickstand plus the lack of the hump in the back of the camera, ill be getting this one IF it doesnt randomly reboot like the DroidX did all the time.

I'm sure this phone is ready to go. Its very similar to both the Droid X and Atrix just with WiMax support. Its being held back by the launch of the Evo3D which is supposed to be Sprints flagship device.

Late summer

I've heard late summer, like Aug.

That would fit with how Sprint's boneheaded marketing works. Announce a phone, get everyone excited, then wait 4 months to actually release it.

Well they say it should be available this summer. Summer officially goes from June 21 to September 22, so there's our window, albeit a rather large drafty window. Hopefully official word will come in the next couple of weeks.

I heard end of July release awhile back. Yet, the recently leaked Sprint release map for Q3 (July-Sept) did not mention Photon G (though it did have what appears to be the Samsung Galaxy II to be known as Within on Sprint). I wonder if something happened to Photon 4G and it's been quietly pulled.

According to the article on the front page it's now "coming soon" which could be any time but at least it could be soon :)

Another article had a screen cap showing the Photon being released in July
