After doing some research, it appears that Android uses CODEC?s to display different types of video just as Windows does and HTC has not included the AVI codec with the out of the box Flyer. The easiest way to install the codec so that you can play AVI movies is to install a free movie player that you download from Android Market. Initially I tried QQPlayer and the AVI?s would play but there was too much framing, where the video is not smooth when you have movement, so I tried converting the AVI to an MPEG4 and the problem disappeared, which isolated the problem to the AVI format. Realizing that not all codecs for a particular format are the same in Windows, I took another suggestion in this forum and tried RockPlayer Lite, which has a free demo version, the Rockplayer codec corrected the framing issues, regardless of the player you choose. I hope this helps, if you are unhappy with your AVI video from the Flyer.:)

I have arcMedia player(free version) on my Incredible and I downloaded it on my Flyer today. It seems to work really good and covers a lot of different video formats. It can also download youtube videos. I was playing an xvid format video with the built in player and it lagged some. I played the same video with arcMedia player and no lag at all. Maybe you can give it a try.

Though Android is developed by the Open Handset Alliance, this smartphone platform only supports H.263, H.264 AVC, MPEG-4 SP and VP8 video format. Hence it is impossible to play AVI on Android phones.

The following will introduce a powerful AVI to Android Converter as well as describe a step by step guide on how to convert AVI to Android supported video format at How to Play AVI on Android Nexus One/Samsung Galaxy/Motorola Droid/HTC? .

Then it is just easy to stream AVI to Android Phone for playing AVI on Android Nexus One, Samsung Galaxy, HTC, Motorola Droid and G1 and more.

I have tried all the media players listed by the posts above. I have found that MoboPlayer in the android market is the BEST! It will play all formats I have tried.

I have a video in 720p and MoboPlayer did the best, without any lagging at all. The quality was amazing on my Flyer.
