back and home buttons sometimes don't work

My back and home buttons sometimes don't work. To fix it, I would press the "recent" button and then they will work again. How do I fix this?

It happens like once a day. I've just turn on Safe Mode and will see what happens. So what if it works fine in Safe Mode?

It just happened again in Safe Mode. What can I do? It's still under warranty but I am sure if bring it in they will not be able to recreate the problem.

Are there any other issues with unrecognized screen touches, especially in that lower part of the screen? Do you have a screen protector on?

No, just those 2 buttons. And yes I have a plastic screen protector.

It might be worth testing it without the screen protector.

No it's off. I had it turned on when I used a glass screen protector, but turned it off when I switched to plastic as I didn't need it on. Let me turn it back on and test it.
