Back and Restore Entire Phone

Is there anything out there that will let me back up my entire phone including the screen layouts and then restore it to a new phone. For example if I got a replacement phone I don't want to have to install and configure everything all over again...or if I want to duplicate my configuration of my phone on my wife's phone is there any software package that will do that for a NON rooted phone.

In short...No.

You can do this on rooted phones by making a backup in recovery, though I've never actually attempted to restore a backup to a *different* phone than the one it was created on. (There may be unique identifiers out there that cause it not to work), but there's no way that I know of to this at all with a non-rooted phone.

FYI -- one of the primary reasons I use Nova launcher instead of the stock one is because of the fact that I can backup and restore homescreen layouts -- that's definitely one of the most annoying things about having to setup a new phone.

Along with Pete's suggestion to use an alternate Launcher (like Nova Launcher: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher) you can try Helium: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup (which doesn't require a rooted phone). There are a few things that it doesn't backup (Call Logs; MMS; maybe something else) but there are other apps that'll handle those pieces:
